Training and Education


Adult Education and Literacy (AEL)

In cooperation with Moberly Area Community College, the Missouri Career Center maintains an Adult Education classroom where clients can, at their own pace, improve their reading, math, language, and writing skills in preparation for higher education or study to prepare for the GED test. Computer Lab
Self-paced tutorials on the Microsoft Office Suite which includes Word, Excel, Access and Power Point. A tutorial for the primary computer operating system Microsoft Windows XP is also available.

Computers available to learn basic computer skills and improve typing skills with the use of software programs.

Workplace Readiness Classes – offered one week a month designed to help job seekers get and keep a job.  Topics include:  Workplace Attitudes and Behaviors, Career Decisions and Advancement, Job Applications and Job Search Techniques, Resume Writing, and Interviewing skills

Job Corps – Information on training & employment programs to those who qualify.  (must be between the ages of 16-24) Vist their website at chicagoregion.jobcorps.gov.

“Choices” computer software program available in the resource area at the Career Center.  Guides jobseekers through a career exploration, relates interests, work experience, and skills to career and educational options.  Provides occupational, education, training and financial aid data links.

Alchemy SISTEM™ uses highly engaging, entertainment quality digital video to teach a variety of competencies including federally mandated training, job success, workplace safety and industry-specific skills. Each lesson is presented by an on-screen narrator who delivers the training content. Throughout each fifteen to twenty minute module, the onscreen trainer asks questions designed to test participants’ understanding as trainees using simple remote control devices with color-coded buttons to log their answers.
